Catlink Emitters Installation

The Emitters set consists of the standard Emitter Pair (part#EM01) plugged into a CATLINK emitter adapter lead which in turn plugs into a RJ45 outlet connected via the cable network to the distribution hub.

The emitters are attached on or near the equipment to be controlled.

Each Emitter pair can be used to control up to two separate items of equipment.

In order for the emitters to operate correctly, the location of the equipment's IR control window needs to be identified. On most equipment this is labelled but some investigation may be required for equipment that does not specifcally label or indicate it's location.

The emitters pair consists of two infra-red emitter elements that are positioned over the -infrared receiver windows of the equipment to be controlled. Positioning is achieved by use of adhesive strips or a small amount of hot melt glue.

Examples of installation are as follows

In this example the emitter is mounted direct to IR control window of the equipment. Adhesion is achieved either by the adhesive strip provided on the emitter .
Control of the equipment using just the the remote control is still possible because the emitter body allows infrared light to pass through it.

Other mounting options:-

  • The emitter can also be mounted just above or below the equipment's remote control area. The domed side of the emitter is a lens and provides extended range.

  • The emitter can also be placed on a wall within 50cm with the domed side of the emitter facing the equipment to be controlled.

Further range than this is possible with a high power emitter adapter cable.
