Catlink TroubleShooting Guide
If a given piece of equipment does not react to remote control commands, perform the following checks:-
Check indicator
LED of the receiver head flashes when the remote control is activated.
|
|
Check indicator
LED on distribution hub flashes when command is being sent and does not
flash (or stay on) when remote control not activated. If you see LED permanently
on or flashing when no remote commands are being sent then there is a
fault in the system (either a cable fault, or Receiver Head faulty or
flooded with sunlight). Try disconnecting sections of the system to isolate
fault. |
|
Make sure that
not more than one Receiver Head is receiving the signals from a single
remote. If two or more receiver heads are receiving the same signal from
a operating remote control at the same time then the equipment may not
control properly. This is a common issue for first time users that set up two receiver heads next to one another to test the system. Special attention is also required in large rooms or areas to prevent two or more receiver heads from receiving the same signal. |
|
Check emitters
are correctly positioned over reception area on equipment to be controlled. |
|
Check than infrared
remote control is operating OK - try controlling equipment directly - check batteries! |
|
Verify that emitters
are being driven - i.e that signal is present. Try replacing emitter pair
with LED wired to phone jack to test. |
|
Check if equipment
is standard IR modulation and not 455kHz (RECS80) typical of some European
equipment. If so then special versions of receiver head module and/or
distribution hub is required |
|
Check that equipment
is switched ON and/or power at wall socket is ON. |
|
Check that the
power supply to distribution hub is not falling below 13.8V at any time
during the time the signal is activated. |
|
Verify that phone
lines or anything else is not cross connecting the either Emitter or Receiver
head pairs (i.e pairs 1 or 4). |
|
Try
tuning the timing adjustment on the receiver head (if supported) see Receiver head timing adjustment |
|
Try tuning the distribution hub - see Catlink Distribution Hub Tuning | |
One of the items of Catlink equipment may be faulty - try substituting with replacements. |
